Broken chain or bracelet?
Chain and bracelet repairs
A snapped chain or broken bracelet is one of the most common repairs we see. Depending on the type of chain and where it has broken, many can be repaired and returned to everyday wear.
We also repair:
- Worn or broken clasps and catches
- Damaged or stretched links
Tip: keep every piece, including any loose links, and bring them in with the chain. It helps us match the repair.
Diamond, stone and setting repairs
Loose stone or worn claw? Have it checked
The claws and settings that hold a diamond or gemstone wear down over time, especially on rings worn every day. Catching a worn setting early can stop a stone from being lost.
Signs your ring needs checking:
- The stone moves or rattles when you tap the ring
- A claw catches on clothing or hair
- A claw looks flat, thin or bent
- You can see a gap between the stone and its setting
We inspect the setting under magnification and tell you what work, if any, it needs. That includes claw repairs, re-setting loose stones and replacing missing stones.
Restoration, redesign and bespoke
When a repair is not the whole answer
Some jewellery is too important to replace. Older, inherited and sentimental pieces can often be restored so they can be worn again.
If you have jewellery you love but never wear, we can redesign it into something new, reusing the stones and keeping the connection to the original piece. Or we can design a bespoke piece with you from the start.

Do I need an appointment for a jewellery repair?
You do not need an appointment to have your jewellery looked at. Call into the shop during opening hours, or contact us first if you would like to check anything before you visit.
Do you repair jewellery that was not bought from Wilson Craig?
Yes. We repair jewellery bought anywhere. Bring the piece into our Glasgow shop and we will assess it.
How much do jewellery repairs cost?
It depends on the piece, the metal and the work needed, so we price each repair individually. We examine your jewellery and give you a price before any work starts. For a guide price, contact us with a photo of the piece.
How long do jewellery repairs take?
It depends on the repair. We give you an expected timescale when we assess your jewellery. If you need it back for a particular date, tell us when you drop it off.
Can you resize diamond rings?
Many diamond rings can be resized, depending on the design, metal, setting and how much the size needs to change. Our ring resizing page explains more.
Can you repair old or inherited jewellery?
Yes. We assess older and sentimental jewellery and talk you through repair, restoration or redesign options.
What types of jewellery do you repair?
Rings, chains, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and pendants, including pieces set with diamonds and gemstones. If you are not sure, bring the piece in and ask.
